The track is the first release from her upcoming debut LP SPH
With the release of her new single ‘Living In My Own World’, self-produced, New York rock artist Cloe Givelin continues to showcase the distinctive personality and appeal that permeates her work and makes it feel so unique and captivating as she unveils the first taste of her upcoming debut album SPH.
The new single explores the artist’s unique experiences as a biracial woman who is seeking to find her place in the world amidst struggles like isolation and identity struggles, showcasing a resilience and sturdiness that shines through in both her sound and her captivating writing. Choe, who was born to Hong Kong and Welsh parents, showcases a vulnerability on the track that feels inspiring and raw, and while listeners may not be able to completely identify with her situation, there is something universal about the feeling that you don’t quite belong, and this duality of the track feeling both deeply personal and over-archingly relatable makes for one of its biggest strengths.
“As a Eurasian/ biracial girl, a dreamer, a girl who lost her mother and far away from her father, I often feel like I am living in my own world.” Cloe says. “I have been living by myself for 10 years. I moved to US on my own without knowing anybody in America. It was six weeks before Covid. The first one and a half year I don’t have any friend in this country. I only talk to my doorman and my neighbor when I bumped into them. I never belong anywhere, and I belong everywhere.”
