Who TF is Juliana Beltrán?

We had a chat with  LA-based Latin-pop artist Juliana Beltrán following the release of her stunning new single ‘Ay tú’

A celebrated artist who’s immersive sound and uplifting melodies have made for a litany of highlights and memorable moments across the last decade, LA-based Colombian singer-songwriter Juliana Beltrán is somebody who’s sound has a warmth and rousing appeal to it that feels endlessly infectious.

The artist’s latest single ‘Ay tú’ is possibly the most overt showcase of this charm and warmth to date, with the track exploring a euphoric new relationship that seems to have made all of the time spent searching and finding disappointment feel worthwhile. We love the new release and its lush, dreamy qualities, and had a chat with Juliana to find out some more about it and her journey as an artist to date.

Who TF is Juliana Beltrán?

I’m a singer-songwriter from Bogota, Colombia but based in LA! Animal lover. Nature child. Music obsessive. Making music that makes you feel something.

How long have you been making music?

I started songwriting around 11 years old, so a wee bit ago. I officially launched my artist project 10 years ago! Have always been singing and making music.

Why do you make music?

It’s my way of processing honestly. The channel to my truest, deepest self. Writing has helped me get over dark times, enjoy the good ones and all of the in-betweens. It’s not just what I make or what I do, music is who I am

What are your biggest influences?

Some of my favorite artists are Whitney Houston, Tori Kelly, Janis Joplin, Eloise, and so many more! I love artists that sing from their souls and tell stories that are raw and honest.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

Performing! I feel the most alive when I’m on stage. The last show I did back in April was one of my favorite moments of my career so far. I felt so myself and felt that energy transmitted onto my audience.

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

I would say my music is a mutt! A bunch of different sounds from Latin culture, pop, rock, R&B, and jazz. I love to blend styles and genres together. It’s who I am as a person and it’s the same with my songs. English or Spanish, they all mix together.

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

I think I’ve had little ones throughout my career, I’ve been on radio shows, TV interviews, lineups and playlists. But to be honest I’m still reaching for the big one. I think it’s coming soon!

We love your new single ‘Ay tú’, what more can you tell us about it?

This song is my lovey dovey, cloud 9, honeymoon phase song of this project. It’s sweet, honest and super romantic. I wrote it a while ago, daydreaming about my next relationship and funny enough, I found it. So I kind of manifested it into reality!

What else do you have planned for the near future?

I have a couple more songs coming out this year! More shows, hopefully bigger venues and festivals and lots more writing.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

My family, my friends and my boyfriend! They all push me to the best I can be, they believe in me even more than I do myself sometimes. I think we all need that extra lift to push beyond exhaustion and fears.
