A longtime CLOUT favourite who’s expansive electronic pop sound is consistently packed full of ambition and creativity, Girl Next Door, the electronic project of London-based producer, songwriter, and vocalist Sarah Carton, has grown into an infectiously catchy source of leftfield, innovative sounds that have a real sense of uniqueness and personality to them.

The artist’s latest single ‘Shotgun’ showcases some of the more euphoric and upbeat aspects to her sound, trading some of the thoughtful introspection of her previous releases with an optimisitic and synth-laden nostalgia trip through young love and hazy, fading memories. The chaotic and glitchy nature of the track does a great job of representing these distorted memories that still hold fond places in our hearts, conveying a feeling and a vibe more than anything too specific or concrete in a way that memories often do.

Speaking about the single and the forthcoming EP, Sarah explains: “Shotgun feels like the soundtrack to a summer holiday you can’t quite remember properly. It’s about that strange feeling of believing one night might change your whole life. I wanted it to sound euphoric, a little chaotic and completely infatuated.”
