We had a chat with UK alternative trio 2far2jump following the release of their introspective and rousing new single ‘Think it over’
A band who possess a fiery, mid-noughties alternative emo spirit and the kind of resonating, thoughtful lyrics that cut through and really leave an imprint on listeners, UK trio 2far2fall have spent just over a decade carving out a style that feels entirely their own, built on emotional honesty, vulnerability and immersive hooks and melodies.
Having already lauded their recent single ‘Think it over’ here on the site, we figured that we would have a chat with 2far2jump and find out a bit more about the exciting band, their plans for the future, and the story behind their latest single. With a new era underway and some slight stylistic changes coming with it, it is an exciting time to get familiarising yourself with 2far2jump.
Who TF are 2far2jump?
Originating from Guildford and South London, 2far2jump (vocalist/rhythm guitarist Luke Harland-Cole, lead guitarist Rupert Barker and drummer Aaron Mann) are an Alternative rock band with influences spanning different decades. The music created from 2far2jump has melodic guitar-driven melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and hard-hitting drums.
How long have you been making music?
2far2jump started in 2015 – so 11 years.
Why do you make music?
It comes from an inner desire to make music and say something about the world around us. Sometimes a song could be about our own experiences and feelings, it could be about a point of view or it could be more fictional but drawn from current observations.
What are your biggest influences?
Each band member’s musical influences and preferences are different but that variety combines to make a unique sound that is 2far2jump. Bands we like include Palaye Royale, Linkin Park, You Me At Six, The Hunna, Badflower, Led Zeppelin, Greta Van Fleet and Jayler.
What would you say has been your best moment so far?
Getting to number 10 in the Kerrang! Rock charts and simultaneously being on Kerrang! TV most nights for 3 months straight.
How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?
A contemporary guitar band who write melodic alt-rock songs with thought-provoking lyrics and interesting themes.
What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?
BBC Introducing stage at Reading Festival.
We love your new single ‘Think it over”, what more can you tell us about it?
Thank you! ‘Think it over’ is all about overthinking and I was doing just that when I started to write this song on the bus coming home one day. Sometimes writing a song just happens like that – kind of spur-of-the-moment! When I got home I finished writing the melody that I had in my head. I presented the song to the whole band and the lads liked it so we worked it up!
What else do you have planned for the near future?
We are going to film a video for ‘Think it over’ in the autumn and we are getting ready to release our next single called ‘Utopia’.
And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?
Me – I love my band.
