Armed with an instantly recognisable sound that feels both deeply thoughtful and ready to tackle the biggest stadiums and stages, UK indie outfit The Howlers are a band who seem to be embracing their darkest and heaviest tendencies in recent times, pushing the boundaries of their sound as they continue to gear up to the release of their aptly titled new album Heavy.
The latest taste of the album comes in the form of ‘D.R.I.V.E.’, an atmospheric track that looks to capture some of the adrenaline and excitement that you feel when you encounter somebody who lights a fire in you, capturing this whirlwind of emotions through a razor sharp, fast-paced sound that feels both intoxicating and gritty. The track continues to demonstrate the band’s innate ability to craft multi-faceted tracks that pull you in and never let go, continuing to cement themselves as one of the nation’s most exciting rising bands, live or otherwise.
“D.R.I.V.E is one of those songs that comes together so quickly that it all becomes a blur and you’re left thinking ‘did I write that,'” says frontman Adam Young. “The vision of this album was to write a heavier record than our debut — a record that can be played in a club, in a mosh pit, and also behind the wheel. The song itself is about the thrill of meeting someone you can’t resist, someone who, when they walk across the room, you’re fixated.”
