The track is the Sydney trio’s fourth new single of 2026
An early 2000s inspired release that touches upon themes like desire and impulsivity, latest EGOISM single ‘It Takes Two’ is a fun new track that utilises an energetic and rousing soundscape to capture the fizzy tension that comes with two people and all of the possibilities for what it could lead to and the implications it could have on their lives.
This risk involved and their decision to give in to the moment anyway makes for a release that has a relatable feel to it throughout, making a decision that feels as dangerous as it is inevitable through a sound that feels urgent and real throughout. This sense of urgency and the meld between nostalgic sounds and more contemporary touches makes for a really engrossing and charming release that has a palpable energy and aura to it despite its more abstract writing.
“I used to write lyrics in a very overt way, like a narrative, but this song is more abstract,” explains EGOISM’s Scout. “I tried to capture a moment of impulse where two people decide to hook up despite their history. The music and lyrics are about the thrill of taking a risk and succumbing to lust.”
