After returning with the huge new single ‘I COULD BE YOUR WORLD’, the exciting Leeds act chat with us about all (some) things Victors.
Leeds outfit Victors are an act that have built a following over the last few years with their mature and nuanced brand of electronic indie rock. Tunes like ‘I’ve Been Missing You’ and ‘Tonight’ have long established the act as serious contenders to keep a keen eye on, and brand new release ‘I COULD BE YOUR WORLD’ sees the outfit continue to climb on this upward trajectory.
The track continues to chart the progression and growth that the outfit seem to make on every single release. If electronic and indie music in more or less any form do it for you, then you’ll most likely find a lot to love from the outfit’s latest laid back journey. As part of our budding friendship with CloseUp, we had a chat with Victors about this new track and how post-lockdown life looks for the exciting outfit.
VICTORS! It’s great to have a chat! We love your music as you well know. Tell us a bit more about your new single, ‘I COULD BE YOUR WORLD’?
ICBYW is just a classic ‘start of a romance’ song. It’s about the time when nothing else matters and everything is about them. We also haven’t released in a long time so wanted to go back to our older sound once again for the most loyal fans.
What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? Is it performing live, creating your tracks, or..?
We love it all. And every aspect of it is different to the other. There’s nothing like hearing an idea you had in your bedroom grow in a studio into something huge. But then also being on stage with people singing your songs back to you gives you a different kind of buzz.
We see you’ve got plans to release even more music throughout the year, tell us a bit more about the next chapter of Victors?
Yeah we’ve got loads coming out this year after such a long wait. We took a break and a step back just to figure out where we wanted to go musically and personally. Every release this year is connected through a narrative ending in us dropping an ‘extended 7 track ep’. We can’t wait.
If you could create a ‘VICTORS Festival’, which 3 artists would you have headlining? (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Friday – HAIM, Saturday – Frank Ocean and Sunday – Sylvan Esso
