Who TF are As Everything Unfolds?

We caught up with As Everything Unfolds frontwoman Charlie Rolfe ahead of the release of the post-hardcore outfits upcoming debut album.

As Everything Unfolds represent something of a culture shift in modern alternative music. The UK melodic post hardcore outfit feel almost like a bridge between the synth-laden metalcore tendencies of artists of the 2010s and the more cutting edge, ambient electronic work of bands like Bring Me The Horizon in more recent times, carefully laying down the foundations of a sound that feels as vital and fresh as it does unflinchingly raw and chaotic.

At the forefront of this is frontwoman Charlie Rolfe, who possesses the ability to trade the angelic for the volatile at a moments notice, making for a unique and unpredictable dynamic that ensures that an already fiercely captiating sound feels unmissable. March 26th will see the release of the acts debut full length Within Each Lies The Other, and if early releases like ‘Grayscale’, ‘Take Me There’ and the impossibly catchy new release ‘On The Inside’ are anything to go by, this looks set to be one of the years standout releases in UK alternative music. We had a chat with Charlie to find out a bit more about As Everything Unfolds.

Who TF are As Everything Unfolds?

Your new favourite Melodic Post-Hardcore band.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve been making music for as long as I can remember! At least since I was 11, but I’ve been interested in music since way before then. It’s always been a massive passion of mine. Being able to be in a band with so many other like-minded musicians has really helped keep that flame burning.

Why do you make music?

I just love it, I enjoy making music I want to hear and it’s so rewarding to complete a piece I’m really proud of.  Being in a band with friends makes the process so much easier too; there’s so much passion you can get from making music as a group, but knowing other people get enjoyment out of our music too brings me so much pleasure.

What are your biggest influences?

There’s so many it’s hard to choose! Though my top three who I adore have to be Hayley Williams, Courtney LaPlante and Lacey Sturm. Recently I’ve also been so inspired by bands like Bring Me The Horizon who are breaking boundaries with heavy music, pushing it back into the mainstream where it belongs.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

Touring Europe was definitely the best moment of my journey so far! The fans out there are incredible and the cities are so beautiful, I’m itching to go back as soon as we can!

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

Soaring melodic choruses, groovy heavy riffs and so much ambience!

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

Doing a world tour is the absolute dream. I just love touring, being on the road and playing our music to as many people as possible! But maybe for now I can settle on just doing a bus tour haha.

We love your new single ‘On The Inside’, what more can you tell us about it?

The song’ is about being gas-lighted, stuck in a constant loop waiting for that day when you get to be on the right side. We wanted it to feel like the positive release of that loop; where we can all rejoice, jump around and have a great time. Forgetting where we’d been stuck for so long and just starting to feel better.

The track is from your highly-awaited upcoming debut album Within Each Lies The Other, what should we expect from it?

Expect more of AEU. More of the music we love to make and you love to hear. We tried to fit a great spread of diversity into this album in the hope that there’s something for everyone! We’ve had such a blast writing this album and we hope you have a blast listening to it!

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

I could never just pick one, they’re all the biggest fan in my eyes! We do have a great community on our Discord server though, where all our fans can communicate with us and each other in a great feeling space, full of good vibes and great memes!

Within Each Lies The Other is out March 26th via Long Branch Records.
