Who TF are In The Middle.?
In The Middle is a two piece anti pop band formed by Mars and Apollo. We spent the last few years working on a cyberpunk rock opera called Brain Games and we’re finally ready to share it with the world.
How long have you been making music?
We’ve both been making music since we were kids, but we have been a band since 2014. We met in our freshmen year of high school in a human geography class.
What are your biggest influences?
We’re really influenced by a number of artists and bands from Gorillaz to Paramore to Twenty One Pilots to The Neighbourhood. We’re also really inspired by artists who have also done concept albums, like Melanie Martinez with her K-12 album and accompanying film.
What would you say has been your best moment so far?
Probably finishing the album. This is something that we’ve wanted for ourselves for so many years, and to hear it and be able to release it out into the world is the coolest thing ever. The excitement of planning live shows and seeing peoples reactions is really inspiring to us.
What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?
There’s so many that we could say for this one but the one that immediately comes to mind is headlining and selling out Red Rocks. Something about that venue just seems so special and it would be an honor to perform in a space like that.
We love your new single ‘Brain Games’, what more can you tell us about it?
Thank you! Brain Games is the title track of the album and serves as the introduction into the storyline. It’s about being trapped inside your own brain and trying to survive the game of life.
What else do you have planned for the near future?
So much! We decided to take a very unconventional route in marketing the album and release one song every 2 weeks with its accompanying comic book chapter. You can tune in every other Friday to dive deeper into Brain Games.
And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?
Their name is Navi! We met them on Instagram a few years back and they were the first person to find our music online and take a diehard interest in our music and stories. There have been times where we’ve been so inspired to keep going as a band because of how much they’ve supported us. They even made us a fan account which you can find at @slightlytotheleft.
