Who TF is Liv Charette?

We had a chat with Liv Charette, an exciting emerging pop star who is doing things her own way

Canadian-born, Nashville-based pop singer-songwriter Liv Charette is somebody who has been earning rave reviews for her powerhouse vocals and the uniquely quirky and melodic nature of her pristine sound. Her work drips with charisma and swagger, and showcases an artist who is unafraid to put her own distinctive spin on her pop sound and stand out from the crowd. Liv is someone who does things her own way, and the result has invariably been a thoroughly enjoyable package that feels both accessible while new and exciting, with the creative spark of the artist really giving her scope to set herself apart.

A perfect example of this ethos and mentality lies in her latest release ‘Game Over’, a powerful pop track that showcases the captivating and engaging nature of the artist’s sound, interspersed with little quirks like retro gaming sounds, giving the track a memorable and nostalgic feel. The track is the latest in a long line of stellar and successful releases from the artist, and we figured that we would get to know her a little better and find out some more about the fearless emerging artist.

Who TF is Liv Charette?

I am a recording artist, songwriter, TikToker and podcaster based in Nashville, TN.  I love video games and all things glittery and nostalgic.

How long have you been making music?

I started singing when I was 14 years old and taught myself how to play guitar not long after. Songwriting came naturally after that and I’ve been making music ever since.

Why do you make music?

Music is who I am – I truly couldn’t picture my life without it. I’m the happiest when I’m on stage, in the studio and in the writing room.  I love how powerful music can be through its ability to connect with people on a whole other level.  I make music because it’s what I was born to do!

What are your biggest influences?

As far as artists go, I’ve always looked up to powerhouse female vocalists and entertainers like Tina Turner, Pat Benatar and P!nk.  Not only do they know how to put on a show, but they are total badasses and always give everything they’ve got every time they step out on stage.

What would you say has been your best moment so far?

One of those “pinch me” career moments for me was getting to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in honor of Tina Turner’s induction this past year.  I was honored to be able to record and release a cover of her song “I Don’t Wanna Fight” and play a stripped down version of the song at the Rock Hall for their first official Garage Sessions series. It was truly a full circle moment for me having grown up listening to Tina’s music and watching her live concert DVDs, to getting to honor her in such an iconic way – it was definitely a career milestone for me that I will never forget.

How would you describe your sound to somebody unfamiliar with it?

I would describe my sound as being a mix between pop, dance and adult contemporary. I love mixing nostalgic, throwback sounds with modern day pop sounds and hooky melodies. Authenticity and confidence are both factors I strive for in the writing room – I want my music to be honest, fun and dance-worthy… with an edge!

What’s your dream “I’ve made it” moment?

Of course, I dream of winning Grammys, of having songs at the top of the charts, playing sold out arena shows – take over the music world!  But the ultimate dream to be able to do what I love every single day, make people feel something through my music and continue to grow and evolve as an artist and songwriter. I want to be able to always make music that I’m proud of and that is authentically me and tells my story.

We love your new single ‘Game Over’, what more can you tell us about it?

“Game Over” is a sassy breakup song about taking back your power in a relationship because you realize that after all of the BS, you deserve to put yourself first… and you deserve so much better.  I like to say that it’s the sequel to my previous single “Red Flags White”, which is about being in a relationship and choosing to ignore all of red flags, convincing yourself that, like your partner, you are also just in it for the physical part. “Game Over” is when you stop ignoring all those warning signs and finally say “play on player, I’m logging off”, I’m done and I “can’t lose cause I’ve already won”.

What else do you have planned for the near future?

We have many cool things planned that I can’t wait to share with the world – one of them being lots of new music! I’ve never felt more creative or inspired as an artist as I am right now and I can’t wait to be able to dive into the new projects that my team and I have in the works. Definitely be on the lookout on all of my socials for updates on TikTok (@livcharetteofficial), Instagram (@livcharette), etc.

And finally, who is your biggest fan right now?

My biggest fans will always be my parents and my family. They’ve believed in me and in my dreams since day one and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and unwavering support. I’m also insanely grateful to have an entire team who believes in me as an artist and understands my vision and what I stand for like none other. I’m beyond blessed to have such an incredible support circle around me!
