LA native Alex Beck is only four tracks into her fledgling career as an artist, gradually releasing dreamy indie pop bops as she establishes her signature sound, but already possesses an unerring amount of composure and poise that comes across in her effortlessly gorgeous sound.
The fourth and latest of her releases is the nostalgic ‘Wishful Thinking’, a mesmerising daydream of a track that encapsulates everything that is great about the artist. Everything from Alex’s yearning vocals, to the thoughtful, dreamy instrumental, to the emotive storytelling paints this vivid picture of the end credits rolling over a relationship that has run its course. ‘Wishful Thinking’ is a melancholic and moving track where Alex masterfully pulls you along for the ride as she lays out her thoughts and feelings about an inevitable break up.
“Wishful Thinking is about the kind of love where you know its at the end of the road. You have done all you can to salvage it, but in your heart you know its run its course.” Alex says of the track “You’re better off running and leaving it behind. The idea of wishful thinking was that its okay to look back at this love to see both the good and bad parts. The song has a nostalgic and dreamy sound to it to emulate that idea of Wishful Thinking.”
