The artist has said of the track that “This song was written during the “Me Too” movement when I was coincidentally dealing with a reckoning with my own rapist. For the first time in my life, I was allowing myself to feel my anger surrounding many injustices brought on me by the patriarchy throughout my life. I wanted the song to serve me as fuel to aid me in transmuting my anger into power.”
The track does all of that and then some, turning all of these feelings and intense emotions into a sound that feels absolutely stacked full of energy and sheer power. From its emphatic bursts of sound to her empowered, seismic vocal performance, the track feels like a reclamation of strength, as the multi-talented singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer uses her art to create something as cathartic as it is impactful.
