The track is from the outfit’s incredible debut EP Pyrokid.
Artio have released so many cutting edge and exciting releases recently that I feel like I’m running out of ways to talk about them that feels anything other than like I’m repeating myself. So I’m just writing this instead so I don’t have to try.
The Leeds outfit continue to confirm everything that we suspected about them on their latest single ‘Demigod’, mainly that they are one of, if not the hottest emerging bands in the UK right now. Their slick blend of creative, experimental electronics and larger than life melodies makes for a sound that feels fresh and exciting beyond measure, and ‘Demigod features some of their most expansive and thoughtful moments to date. Compound that with the track’s rousing and thoughtful narrative about past traumas and how it is completely find to not be okay, and Artio may just be one of the most necessary and exciting rising artists around right now.
“Demigod is about not being 100% healed from past traumas and being comfortable with that.” Artio say of the track. “There’s always this crazy expectation that everyone needs to just get over things and because you’re past a hard time that it can’t affect you anymore. Demigod in its essence just means that it’s okay to be half-alive, barely getting by but still showing up.”
