Ash Kennedy returns with the breezy soul-pop sound of new outing ‘Chocolate in the Morning’. The new track follows the release of her debut single ‘Point of View’.
A collaboration with producer Ben Oldland, ‘Chocolate in the Morning’ dips into the R&B-influenced pop of Ariana Grande with her soothing sound and intimate, anecdotal lyrics. A project that first began over a Zoom call, the track ruminates on romance in true 2020 fashion as Kennedy’s vocal skilfully meanders around her tale.
“I spilled to Ben about my new iso-boyfriend; who is an amazing cook, my best friend, but cringes at the thought of pet names and big romantic gestures,” shares Kennedy. “We laughed at how I playfully taunt him by referring to him as
‘pumpkin’ and other food related pet names. I’m a teeny bit of a stirrer, so I thought it would be hilarious to write a song about our relationship in isolation with extra cheese!”
