The dreamy new track is from an upcoming EP titled SMALL
Austen and her unique brand of art-pop are back on brand new release ‘The Fire’, showcasing more of the left-field artist’s immersive textures and quirks.
The track feels like an ode to the electronic sounds of the 2000’s, packaged in a wonderfully modern and contemporary way. Austen’s voice effortlessly sails over the sea of sounds and all comes together to create something that feels cutting edge and new but surprisingly tranquil and peaceful at its peak. There is a kind of restrained chaos here that bubbles under the surface but is always held together by the deftness and restraint from the artist, a wonderful track that continues to just be scratching the surface of the array of places that Austen could take this sound.
As she explains: “The Fire is about living on the line between volatile and steady, in a sweet spot of intensity. I wanted it to sound otherworldly, as a reflection of that feeling.”
