The new single comes ahead of his debut EP A BLACK & WHITE FILM
An immersive rising artist who has been celebrated for his vibrant appeal and the impossibly fun, groove-laden nature of his sound, rising Birmingham talent Beljune is somebody who has been quickly making a name for himself as of late with some stellar releases.
The latest of these is the single ‘Humphrey/Simone’, an effortlessly groove-laden and fun time that makes reference to Humphrey Bogart and Simone de Beauvoir in the artist’s typically stylish fashion. The idea is to capture this idea of stars and icons at their peak, and Beljune does a great job of capturing this feel with a track that feels theatrical and grand throughout, packed full of style, substance and a real cinematic star quality throughout.
“This was the first time I went into the studio just wanting to play, and it probably captures my personality more than anything I’ve written before.” Beljune says of the release. “There’s usually a lot of emotional weight in what I do, but this came from following the feeling. ‘Humphrey/Simone’ still has a real emotional drive, but it’s also a bit camp, a bit playful… and I think we need more of that in the world right now.”
