The emotional track closes out the band’s new EP On All That’s Real.
With the release of their new third EP On All That’s Real, Buffalo outfit Canetis continue to showcase everything that makes the band and their thoughtful sound feel so stirring and engaging, delving into personal and poignant themes with the passion and heart that they have grown known for.
No track exemplifies this more so than the album’s closing track ’89 to 22′, a powerful tribute to lead singer Brendan Orr’s sister Jenn Orr, who unfortunately passed away during the writing of the EP. The emotion and passion that the band pour into their sound feels as pronounced as ever on the track, with every melody and ever word feeling like it hits that much harder, owing to the gravity and rawness of its subject. The song’s lyrics use lines from Jenn’s own poetry that she wrote over the years while being supplemented by the words of her brother, and when added to the powerful and explosive nature of their alternative rock sound, it makes for a really stirring and impassioned ode that leaves a memorable, lasting impression.
