Newcastle indie rock outfit Cat Ryan have often been characterised by their unique sound and distinctive musical talent over their releases, and latest single ‘Like This’ is another track where the outfit showcase exactly why so many are lauding over the Northern band.
The track was the first ever written by Cat Ryan’s Mary-Anne back in 2017, and explores feelings of heartbreak and disappointment in cathartic and memorable fashion. Despite its emotional edge however, it is though the creativity and complexities of the track that it really shines, with lush layered production meeting angular melodies to craft a sound that somehow feels as accessible and charming as it does experimental and bold.
