The track is from the artist’s highly-awaited upcoming EP So Long
As she gears towards the release of her upcoming new EP So Long, rousing rising UK artist Charlotte Lansman continues to showcase a nuanced and expansive appeal to her sound that is packed full of surprises and thoughtful, intimate moments that continues to highlight her stylish prowess as an artist.
The third and most recent single from the EP is ‘My Mind’, a track that has a soulful and retro tone to it throughout as the artist explores themes like mental health, anxiety and self-doubt. The track’s instrumentation operates like a living breathing thing on the new release throughout, from the wandering and endlessly engrossing bass guitar to the spacious and rhythmic drums that hold everything together, ‘My Mind’ is a track ravaged by doubt in its narrative but its execution couldn’t feel more free-flowing and inviting, making for an interesting dichotomy and juxtaposition and one that has a fierce hold on you throughout.
“This song is an expression of being overwhelmed, I suppose.” Charlotte says of the track. “Finding myself unable to understand myself or find myself during the daytime, and unable to escape my mind during the night. Sometimes it feels impossible to get away from your own thoughts, as if the mind is a different part of your own being, fighting. That’s how I felt at the time”
