CHERISE comments on the release, “Butter came together in a matter of months! I started writing after my birthday in February 2024, and we released the first single ‘My Cherie Amour’ by May. It’s named after the opening track on the EP, I didn’t give it too much thought! But when I mentioned “BUTTER” to my Mum she reflected on its important to Black culture – Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter are used every morning to moisturise. Butter has come to mean Black British to me. I had fun writing this EP with my producer Mates who are on the cover. After releasing my debut album, I wanted to reflect, experiment, soften up a bit and have fun”.
