Since emphatically announcing themselves in the UK music scene with their excellent 2021 debut single ‘Loser’, DUDE, MY DUDE have continued to establish their distinctive blend of indie pop and emo rock with wildly successful results.
The latest release from the outfit is the thoughtful new single ‘Tired Vibes’. The track provides a commentary on the desperation for stimulation and instant gratification that we have as a society in 2022, twitching for a screen to read or something to do when real human interaction is usually right in front of you. The juxtapositions within the track between the laid-back verses and energy soaked choruses do a nice job of laying out this sense of disconnect and provide this emphatic, melodic banger with more than immediately meets the eye.
“By no means is the track a criticism of our digital world.” DUDE, MY DUDE say of the track. “Rather, it comments on how we can tend to reflexively seek stimulation instead of allowing ourselves to be bored — because shooting the shit in good company is always better than doomscrolling alone.”
