Having supported DYLYN and her unique sound for some time now, it is genuinely beginning to feel that I am running out of words and superlatives to describe the artist. Her sound crosses genres effortlessly, conveys a wide range of emotions and moods from track to track, and never loses it’s sharp-edged sense of appeal and dynamism.

The latest addition to her explosive arsenal is the new single ‘What A Ride’. The track has a nostalgic feel to it throughout, while never losing her signature cutting edge sense of appeal and attitude, spearheaded by her powerful and charismatic vocals. Her upcoming album The Sixty90s is set to be an homage to those two time periods and the sounds that they created and inspired, and this reflective new single continues to showcase how effortlessly the artist can tie ideas together to create something endlessly creative and fresh.

When asked about “What A Ride,” Gwen shares, “I had fun writing this one, as it was kind of influenced from a song idea called “Half Baked” by Jimmy Campbell. An almost 60s Cream influence. I love that there are two parts to this song, one being really smooth and light, the other being sort of chaotic. It reflects the highs and lows of life. It feels like the inner dialogue one struggles with when reflecting on the could have, should have, what could be. Living presently isn’t very easy.
