Ahead of the release of her highly anticipated upcoming EP, Anyway, How Are You?, celebrated UK alternative pop artist Eden Rain has released another a new tasted from the release that continues to showcase the thoughtful, narrative-driven nature of her artistry and style that has won her over so many admirers.
The new single finds the artist thoughtfully delving into the complexities and nuances of relationships, the weird things that we do and ways that we change ourselves and our outlooks in order to fit into these situations that we find ourselves in, maybe losing ourselves a little bit along the way, wilfully or not. It makes for a really interesting and thoughtful listen that feels unerringly real and authentic in the way that it lays out these scenarios in such candid and matter-of-fact fashion, the terrifying realities of it all masked by the rousing and soft tone of Eden’s distinctive vocals and the moving soundscape that surrounds it. The track explores this subconscious push and pull, the give and take, the things that we surrender to people and take from them whether we realise or not.
“I wrote this song with Ed earlier this year.” Eden says of the new release. “I feel like I got a big pot and stirred together the relationship experiences of everyone I know. It’s not just a love thing- It’s kind of about the struggle of wanting to be close to someone but feeling like they’re gonna ruin your life. It’s the push and pull of how much you’ll let someone manipulate you till the degree where you’re either still enjoying it or feel in control. I think dynamics in romantic and platonic relationships are really interesting, I love dissecting romcoms. I wrote this after watching a film which made me think about how much you give up of yourself willingly to suit another person, or what they take away from you without even meaning to.”
