EGOISM is a duo made up of childhood friends Scout Eastment and Olive Rush. Having spent a lifetime crafting songs together and challenging each other to improve and grow, the present day sees them possessing an incredibly tight and uniquely cohesive brand of indie pop.

Latest single ‘Here’s the Thing’ is a wonderful example of this, with their dual vocals cascading and washing over each other in the most natural and aurally pleasing ways. The track is introspective in nature and has a real feeling of depth and almost a darkness hidden within the lyrics, concealed by dreamy guitar pop sounds and infectiously carefree melodies. ‘Here’s the Thing’ is a track that showcases the fun and the emotional depth that EGOISM possess within their sound, with both working in tandem to create something truly unique and thought-provoking.

“I wrote ‘Here’s the Thing’ in the middle of Winter while I was house-sitting my friend’s studio apartment in the city while they went to Europe. At the time I was dropping out of TAFE, my relationship was falling apart, and it wouldn’t stop raining outside. It felt like the world was caving in on itself. It was hard to finish this one; listening to a past version of myself singing about feeling absolutely heartbroken over and over again – it’s totally draining. I like it now, but it took some time. I don’t think I’ve ever captured a moment through lyrics that intensely before.”
