Elephant Castle is the retro-inspired indie rock project from Los Angeles-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Phil Danyew. Latest single ‘I’m a Loser’ is a sarcastic anthem that further establishes the sound and personality that Phil and Elephant Castle possess.
While the track is drenched in a tongue-in-cheek self-awareness, at its core it is a very compelling, radio-ready indie rock mammoth of a track that feels like it is coming from an act that are years into honing their sound and finding themselves.
Phil Danyew has spent the last six years as a touring member of the band Foster The People and has left to pursue his own sound and find his own voice. It’s still early on but ‘I’m a Loser’ and previous single ‘Cool To Be Unhappy’ are emphatic signs that this could be a very fruitful venture.
