Elephant Castle, the retro-inspired indie rock project from Phil Danyew, has long been a favourite of CLOUT. With every release the artist seems to add more facets and faces to his unique sound.
On his latest release ‘No Me and You’, the artist subverts the usual love story trope that surrounds valentines day with a celebration of a relationship ending. The track has a really bizarrely triumphant feel to it and feels almost rousing at times, packing a 60s pop sheen that gives it a really distinctive and unique edge. The idiosyncratic juxtaposition between its upbeat nature and the subject matter makes for a really interesting and as always, captivating listen.
