With the release of her deeply personal and immersive new single ‘Nosedive’, CLOUT favourite Ellis King has continued to showcase the personable and relatable nature of her nuanced indie pop sound with a narrative that many listeners and especially women will find familiar.

The track finds the artist coming out of a breakup with somebody that made her feel like she should minimise her ambitions and achievements in order to not make them feel like she was overshadowing them, pandering to their insecurity. This makes for an impassioned and cathartic Ellis King doing a great job of casting a liberated figure as she reflects on the situation and looks to dust herself off, free from the shackles of the past, and move forward with her life and her journey on her own terms.

Of the single, Ellis shares, “I wasn’t in a place to write about everything contained in this song immediately, but once I was ready it came together like honey. This one is very play-by-play – I wrote it from start to finish as a reflection of the events that transpired, almost like replaying the night it happened in real time…It moves through the aftermath, the guilt and the shame, but also remembering that I felt like I had to dim myself for someone else. In the end, it’s about accepting what happened and understanding that even when it feels like everything’s stopped, life keeps moving and you have to pick yourself right back up and move into your future.”
