Fronted by Brisbane singer-songwriter Eloise Goldsmith, Eloelo formed in 2020 pre-covid, when Eloise decided to bring a bunch of friends from university together to play the songs only her bedroom had heard. ‘Teenage Movie’ is the second release from the outfit and continues to establish their infectious brand of indie pop.

From the second that its open bass line gives way to its crashing instrumentation the tone is set, the track is an optimistic, but also doomed tale of expecting a relationship or situation to be perfect and like on TV, and warns that the reality can often be quite different.

“I was envying the simplicity of falling in love and creating a life with someone within the timespan of a film.” Eloise says of the track, “Except love isn’t what we are told, and we are each forced to create our own meanings of the word through our life experiences. The reality had me longing for the simplicity of the perfect date, the perfect person, the perfect love.”
