With the release of their engrossing and colourful new EP 8HRS, Australian alternative favourites Fan Girl do a great job of showcase the wide breadth of scope and ambition that their sound has, offering four tracks that vary in tone and style while maintaining their signature Fan Girl DNA.

The last of these singles is perhaps the most distinctive of the lot, their new single ‘Submarine’ taking place somewhere in the murky depths between indie-folk and indie rock with a slow build that painstakingly meanders through its thoughtful textures in captivating fashion. With a narrative that sits uneasily somewhere between ruin and resilience, the track lurches through the range of emotions we go through as we find our way and get through what we need to get through. The track is a great showcase of the depth of their sounds and the different corners that they can push it into, and rounds off the EP in a really compelling and memorable way.
