WANT TO KNOW WHAT LATEST RELEASES HAVE GOT CLOUT? WELL, YOU’RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
New releases from Brijs, Charlotte Bettson, Dancing On Tables, Filous, Heka, Josh Taffell, Karl Zine, Magic Bronson, The Yves and Two Weeks In Nashville.
Karl Zine – Greenscreen
First up, we’ve got a shimmering piece of electro-pop for you. Opening with a solid bassline before shifting into something much more ethereal and smooth, there’s a lot of atmosphere in Karl Zine’s work.
Expect choral samples, swirling electronics, strong bass and electro-vocals to suit. Inspired by none other than GTA 5 and more specifically the police cars at night. It gets pretty deep.
Charlotte Bettson – Important To Me
Pop in it’s simplest form up next from Charlotte Bettson. ‘Important To Me’ is here and ready to inspire you to take charge and become the CEO of your own life. Raw and charming vocals and a pure catchy feel to it.
The track comes before a planned support slot with none other than Scouting For Girls at their sold out London show. (yes, they’re still a thing).
Two Weeks in Nashville – All About Now
Rising indie all-stars, Two Weeks In Nashville are taking things up a notch with new release ‘All About Now’, taken straight from their upcoming debut LP Paper Planes and Razor Blades.
With a rousing indie production and soaring, inspirational vocals the track is certainly one to get you feeling a kind of way. Having used lockdown and isolation to put time into their production, it really shows, plus they’ve worked with producer Brian Harris on this one too (Pink Floyd, Stormzy)
Dancing On Tables – Tell Me
If you’re not familiar with Dancing On Tables, where have you been? They’re rapidly making a name for themselves on the indie-pop circuit.
New effort ‘Tell Me’ provides a new take on the whole “miss someone/want someone back” love song. Written at the end of Feb, around Valentine’s day, it got them wondering what would happen if there was a day designated to ending one.
filous – Hey Love
Prepare yourself for this one! Austrian producer, filous, has teamed up with The Kooks for this summer-anthem ‘Hey Love’ A light track with bundles of emotion, it’s the perfect love-filled summer soundtrack.
The first track from filous’ upcoming project and if this is anything to go by, we can’t wait!
Heka – Fake Smile
Meet Heka, the five-piece Bristol-based band that’s about to blow you away with their mesmerising textures and layers on new track ‘Fake Smile’.
Synths and guitars come together in a truly transcendent way that’s completely captivating. Check out the animated video for the full experience.
The Yves – The Blvd
Big one here from The Yves, centred around the feeling of being lonely in a crowded place. Expect stunning vocals and a tranquil production that pushes the vocals expertly to a higher level.
Rumour has it they’re working on a stripped back version of this one and we are certain that’s going to be phenomenal.
Brijs – River Swimming
We are a big supporter of Brijs here and his journey so far. New track, ‘River Swimming’ follows the previous bops ‘Glitra’, ‘Velvet Ditch’ and ‘Stay Up, Stephanie’. They’ve all also been taken from his forthcoming debut LP.
With this one we see him take a psych-folk route, so expect plenty of refreshing unique sounds, embedded perfectly into a building, progressive indie track. It’s absolutely incredible. No one is making music like Brijs at the moment.
Josh Taffell – Shimmer
1/4 of an upcoming EP, Josh Taffell has released ‘Shimmer’, a delicate, emotive track that describes the vulnerability of love, the fragility of ego and selflessness.
The vocals have a simple style to them verging on monotonous but instead featuring an endearing vulnerability to them that’s somewhat captivating. Entirely written, recorded and produced in his kitchen in lockdown, enjoy.
Magic Bronson – ITILYN
Finishing on a high with the new one from Magic Bronson, ‘ITILYN’ (I Think I Love You Now). Inspired by their love/hate relationship with LA (see traffic reference in the lyrics).
It’s plucky, and has just the right level of energy to it as the vocals meander through the narrative at a constant, steady pace whilst still maintaining that chill, throwaway feel to them. Expect low key synth goodness and a big, catchy chorus that will no doubt stick in your head for a while!
