Gracie Abrams reflects on lost love in ’21’

Rising talent Gracie Abrams returns with the bittersweet sound of new single ’21’. The track is her first release of the year and follows previous outings ‘Stay’ and ‘Mean It’.

Hailing from Los Angeles, ’21’ sees Abrams strike a sound more in keeping with Tennessee native Taylor Swift than the big beach tones of her hometown. Coming from the same vein of such aforementioned personable songwriting, the track sees Abrams muse upon a recent break-up and whether it was the right choice or if she will regret it as she turns 30.

“Writing ‘21’ felt like a therapy session,” says Abrams of her new single.  “It was everything I needed to say but couldn’t really, before being in that room.

“Working with Joel and Sarah, all I really wanted to do was sit back and watch them as I think they’re two actual geniuses, but after ten minutes of talking it became apparent to me that they’re such geniuses because of how comfortable and open they make you feel,” she continues. “Once we started writing it just felt like every sentence we spoke made its way into the song.”
