Ohio alternative rock duo Groundstate have announced the completion of their latest album, and with it, the outfit’s new single ‘Floating Away’.

The track continues to do a great job of melding their melodic sound with moments of catharsis and heaviness that feel rewarding. Groundstate’s more modern work feels like a forward-thinking continuation of the brand of alternative rock that saw success with the likes of Hoobastank and Three Days Grace, providing a sound that feels raw and new, and creating it through the passion and drive of their sound rather than cave in to more modern production techniques that can often blunt a bit of your edge. The track is really strong, and for every crunching riff, there are thoughtful lyrics or a catchy passage, making for an approach that showcases the best of both worlds.

“Rather than rely on modern production practices of using programming and effects, the end result of “Floating Away” and the upcoming album is raw and unapologetic in its melodic yet heavy approach,” says vocalist Connor Smith.

“We’ve never wanted to hold back. What you hear is exactly who we are. We don’t pull any punches. It feels good to finally be able to make the kind of album that we’ve truly wanted to make and bring back something that is missing from the music world,” says Guitarist Aidan Smith.
