Having achieved rising levels of acclaim for her initial releases and 2021 EP Dying Youth, Harri Pick is back, and with the effortlessly fun and unfortunately all too relatable new single ‘Broke’, an ode to being a young person in today’s society and having effectively fuck all and nothing to show for it.

So many relatable money issues are highlighted within the track, it almost feels like a bingo card for modern britain. Struggling to pay for education? Check. Having Nothing in the bank? Check. Paying extortionate amounts of money for a room that feels more like a glorified shoebox? You bet. This amplifies the charm and the grit of the track though, creating this overarching sense of kinship and solidarity with young people who more often than not, are in this same boat, struggling to keep their heads above water and keep floating. Sitting somewhere between indie rock and alternative pop, Harri Pick’s sound is packed full of charisma and unique personality, and when complimented by the personable themes of the track, this makes for a package that feels raw, engaging and effortlessly likeable and real.

Speaking about the track, she says: “Broke came about when I went to visit my parents after my birthday. I had just come back from visiting my partner’s family in Scotland and we arrived back in London. We got on the tube and I opened my bank account, which I did in fact, have 74p in. We were going to visit my parents in the South West and I was panicking about money and the fact my partner and I lived in such a ridiculously priced place in London that was the size of a box.”
