Hope D returns with the unapologetic and energetic new track ‘Common Denominator’. Her latest outing follows the release of this year’s earlier single ‘Second’.

With an undeniably tounge-in-cheek lyrical manner, ‘Common Denominator’ is a bristling slice of punchy pop that confronts the realisation that you and the person you’re dating don’t really have that much in common. Reflecting on school days, Hope D lists binary preferences over and over, whilst the track’s chunky rhythm and bass reinforce that she is relieved, not bitter.

“I wrote this song about my first relationship, where we were set up by a mutual friend,” shares Hope of the new single. “I gradually realised that the only thing we had in common (and the reason we even met) was that we were both gay.

“I actually remember pretending to know her favourite bands, which gave us more bonding ground,” Hope continues. “She was very clever and I was more interested in parties and music rather than studying and understanding politics. The song is a big exaggeration of our dynamic and is meant to capture the feeling of a new and exciting relationship, regardless of how it turned out.”
