The thoughtful indie rock outfit hope to change the world on their engrossing and cathartic new single
The world feels like it is growing to be an increasingly hostile and unjust place in recent times, and Icarus Phoenix single ‘The World That We Live In’ is a track that looks to address this issue and the increasingly conflicting standards and ideals that we’re supposed to live up.
The track has a really thoughtful appeal to it throughout, with writer Drew Danburry admitting that he “felt like we could change and remake the world when I wrote this. I’m not sure if that’s true anymore.” The way that modern times have beaten this hope and optimism out of people is something that is especially sobering when it is spelled out in front of you in such thoughtful fashion, and it really makes for a generation of people who have no idea how to help or make things better as a result. ‘The World That We Live In’ is a great track that embodies that struggle.
