A throwback to the more raw and emotional kind of indie rock sounds of the 90s, The Yum Yum Tree are a band who have been releasing their first material since way 2007 in the lead up to the release of their new album Turn Down The Noise, a collection of tracks that shows that the band feel just as resonating and real as they ever have.

A great place to start with the album is its title track and opener ‘Turn Down The Noise’, a track that has a fun, upbeat edge to pair with its resonating lyrics about the importance of tuning out outside distraction and allowing yourself to focus, free from the pressures and expectations that life so desperately wants to throw at us. There is something super authentic and earnest about the band and their sound that has you hanging on their every word and really finding a way to buy into their narratives and the message, and it makes for a listening experience that leaves a resonating mark on you as a listener.

“The world can be so loud that sometimes it’s hard to focus on what’s important.” The Yum Yum Tree’s Andy Gish says of the track. “To me, that’s making music and art. The song TDTN is my own reminder to myself to turn down the world around me, turn down expectation and just jump in.”
