Having not been a name that we had heard before this track, Jewel Owusu has firmly planted herself onto our radar with the release of her new single ‘Mixed Signals’.

Half Filipino, half Ghanian, born in Hong Kong, raised in New Zealand, and now based in Perth Australia, Jewel is someone that has been exposed to a range of cultures and backgrounds, and this is something that is prevalent in her distinctive and engaging sound. The artist’s brand of indie pop is one that has a real air of composure to it, and the artist’s strong vocals and thoughtful lyrics make for a package that feels fully formed and destined for a bigger spotlight.

‘Mixed Signals’ is a perfect example of this, from Jewel’s effortless chemistry with featured artist Jarrod Jeremiah to the little quirks of personality and unique touches that the artist adds in to make the track feel even more memorable, this is just a glimpse at the enormous potential of Jewel Owusu.

Speaking about the track, Owusu says, “Mixed signals is an upbeat indie-pop song following a playful back and forth narrative about being in a grey area with someone and not knowing how they feel about you.”

“The main takeaway from the song is; if someone likes you then you’ll know,” she said.
