Sweet and oddball, Jockstrap share new single ‘Acid’

London duo Jockstrap keep it cute and weird on their new single ‘Acid’. Taking an unconventional slant on their brand of indie pop, the pair – namely Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye – wind up their their penchant for the left-field with this outing.

Smattered with rippling synths and playful percussion, the track evokes thoughts of classic cinema romance, albeit, between too uniquely individual characters. With a sweet vocal dalliance between both Ellery and Skye – his first ever on a Jockstrap record – ‘Acid’ marks a great start to 2020 following the pair’s whirlwind year working on BAFTA award winning films (Ellery featured in Bait) and working with the likes of Underworld and slowthai. It sounds quite exhausting.

“‘Acid’ is a track for my brother,” shares Ellery of the release. “It’s expansive, vibrant and filled with love. Taylor designed this beautiful sound world: I sent him a 6/8 ballad and he sent me back this other worldly thing.”

“Georgia sent me this swooning, expressive, tender piano demo and I did my best to match it,” adds Skye. “It was real fun to produce. I feel like this is the most uplifting song we’ve made so far – it almost has summer vibes.”

‘Acid’ is available now via Warp Records.
