Keeper E. is an artist who has forged out a reputation for her playful art-pop sounds and thoughtful, often tender lyrics, and on her latest release ‘I Can Do It’, the artist continues to showcase the nuances and charms of her sound.
The track, alongside her latest single ‘This Is Like Everything’, serves as a precursor to her upcoming sophomore EP thank u and please and don’t go which comes out on the 6th. While ‘This Is Like Everything’ is characterised by its bouncy, danceable rhythms, ‘I Can Do It’ has a much more deliberate and thoughtful feel.
Themes of empowerment and equality are prevalent on the track, and lines like “You make it seem so much harder than it is / I can do it / I can do it / Get my name off your lips.” in its emphatic chorus only hammer home this point further. Keeper E. has established within her sound and her lyrics that she is more than capable of thriving on her own, and we look forward to hearing what else the artist is yet to release.
