It’s clear where Kotomi’s heart lies in ‘Devotion’

A stunning slice of alt-pop with experimental undertones, Kotomi shares her new single ‘Devotion’. The track is part of an AA-side with fellow release ‘A Good Thing’.

The musical moniker of Los Angeles residing talent Lauren Hillman, Kotomi’s electronic sound is one not dissimilar to that of Purity Ring or Sleigh Bells. Channelling an current of more abrasive synth sounds, the moody tone of ‘Devotion’ jolts despite its earnest intent.

Bending such gurning around more traditionally chilly electro-pop beats, Hillman’s vocal is mysteriously coercive, yet sincere in its simplicity. Speaking of the track, Hillman states: “This song is about experiencing the feeling of devotion for the first time to another person.”

‘Devotion’ / ‘A Good Thing’ is available now.
