The track is metaphor-heavy, exploring themes of anxiety and struggle through the idea of drowning in what is going on around you. Sonically, the track is atmospheric and ambitious, cloaked in a darkness that adds to the gravity and poise of Leire’s emotive, raspy vocals. As a second single, ‘Box Of Chesterfield’ continues to establish the gifts that Leire has, and begins to showcase the depth and range that the artist possesses.
In Leire’s words “It’s a personal story about my mum, who has to take care of everyone else but her. She’s not living a life, she’s just surviving, and smoking is her escape and safe place”.
