Lokoy‘s ‘never missed you like i do now’ is toe-tapping pop perfection. The new release is the second single from the Sløtface bassist’s forthcoming debut album, slated for release in 2021.

Following a slew of collaborations with the likes of girl in red, Jimi Somewhere, Safario and dePresno, ‘never missed you like i do now’ enlists fellow Norewegian Axident on co-vocal duties. Describing the track as a ‘heartbreak’ duet, the restless percussion pushes the track forth and captures the whirlwind of bittersweet turmoil. Decorated with brightly chiming synths, it captures the inertia of navigating heartache.

“I’d recently bought two new synthesisers when we arrived Berlin,” Lasse Lokoy says. “We’d stopped to load off the van when some guys managed to mug us while we were behind the vehicle. They got away with two guitars and one of my new synths. Luckily they didn’t take my backpack where my mac was with the first draft of never missed you like i do now. My other synth also survived which I later on used for the melody for the single”.

‘never missed you like i do now’ is available now via Propeller Recordings.
