The artist continues to re-establish herself as an exciting emerging force in UK music.
Having previously captured our attention music under the innocuous and admittedly slightly forgettable name Sara, Low Girl is now two tracks into her career under her new monicker, and with her more unique and memorable name, comes more unique and memorable tunes.
‘Big Now’ is a great example of what makes the UK alt-pop upstart is all about, featuring catchy hooks and an affable, upbeat sense of fun. Sparse synths provide a wonderful foundation for her more evocative and personality-filled vocals to be showcased on. The track is a no-holds-barred attack on apathy and indifference, and fittingly, feels like a statement in of itself.
“Above all, this song is a plea to be heard and understood.” Low Girl has said of the track. “It’s about destroying the planet for wealth that you don’t take to your grave. And it’s to remind myself to fight apathy whenever I feel it stirring inside me.”
‘Big Now’ is the title track from Low Girl’s upcoming debut EP set for release on April 30th, and is hopefully an indication of what is still to come.
