Alt-pop trio Lycio and their powerful sound have been carving out a path for themselves in the midlands music scene over the last few years with a slew of thoughtful and impactful releases.

The latest of which is ‘I Wanna Know, a track that, as ever, is anchored by the sheer power of Genie Mendez’ vocals, while Charlie Kellie and Alex Lowe provide the perfect defiant backdrop for her swaggering and effortlessly confident performance. There is a really uplifting sense of euphoria that surrounds the track, that attests to a creatively thriving outfit that are crafting liberating and expansive work. Lycio’s sound is impossibly tight on each and every coming release, and with the x factor afforded to them with such a uniquely mesmerising package, you can only assume that they’re going to continue to turn heads.

“This song is about navigating flirtation in modern society. Whether it be understanding the boundaries, signals, whether a person is interested or not.” Genie says of the track. “It’s something that we can never be certain of, because, well, we’re not mid readers. Not only that but it also touches on not knowing who should make the first move.”
