Newcastle’s Martha Hill in an artist who we have consistently lauded over the past few years thanks to their soulful brand of left-field pop, and their often cutting lyricisms centered around their unique lens and view of the world. The artist has grown known as an engaging presence in the UK music scene, uncompromising, fierce and brimming with personality and heart.

On their latest release ‘In My Future’, Martha showcases a refreshingly vulnerable and candid side to them, daydreaming about dreams and plans for the future, and the track grows more sombre as the artist recognises that things that have gone awry might not be able to go the way that you’ve planned in the past. As always, Martha’s thoughtful lyrics and effortlessly powerful voice provide the centerpiece for the track, and they continue to captivate in a way that feels distinctly her own.

“In My Future is all about big dreams, small dreams. It starts reasonably; to not be poor, or unhappy, or alone, but as the song goes on, the dreams get less realistic and you start wishing things weren’t how they were, or you’d done something different, or they’d done something different. It’s about loss and it’s about dreams, and where those two are the same” Martha says of the track.
