On May 9th, the birthday of Billy Joel, it only seems fitting that we talk about another self-proclaimed “piano man”, Olly Hite and his charming brand of gorgeous pop balladry.
The artist has just released his newest single ‘Lioness’ and it is stacked full of heartfelt moments and an intricate sense of warmth and occasion. Piano based sounds such as this tend to live and die on the personality and character that bleeds thorough the work and the vocals, and Olly’s powerful, emotive performance and the rousing imagery surrounding women’s empowerment make for a truly compelling package. “The song is about the empowerment of women, Lioness is regal, she is nurturing and walks with pride, grace and immense beauty.” Olly says of the track. “The lioness is strong and powerful and will do whatever she needs to do to survive and grow. Even if it’s the unimaginable.”
