Maybe my favourite pitch for a song ever is “This song was dubbed ‘shoegaze’ by my producer and friends. I don’t know what the fuck that means. All I know was I wanted some fuzzed out guitars.“.

Fuzzed out guitars are exactly what new Plant Dad single ‘MoMA’ provides us with though to be fair, building from the track’s gorgeous intro into a cathartic explosion of fuzzy goodness. Plant Dad’s sixth release is one that is wrought with emotion conflicted feelings, which maybe goes someway to explaining the contrasts in the intensity of the sound. The track is about being in a relationship that feels like it revolves around physical beauty and how attractive the other person is to the extent that it becomes all-encompassing and can hinder the ability to get past that surface level feeling. This inner conflict and the artist’s lack of understanding how to express how they feel is articulated masterfully throughout the track, and provides a great justification for some of the artist’s most hard hitting and explosive moments yet.
