The outfit continue to justify the hype on their new release

Riding on the hype of their excellent critically acclaimed 2019 debut album, Suddenly Everyone Explodes, Isle of Wight 5-piece return with the anti-negativity anthem ‘Disco Wings’, a rousing and creative new release that wonderfully spotlights their emphatic sound.

The track sees the outfit continue to live up to their ever-rising hype, everything from its positive message, to its stylistic creativity feels captivating and rousing. The track washes over you, melding soulful vocals and cutting edge electronics to devastating effect. If you’re having a bad day then this song might just be what you need, and if you’re having a good day then listen to it anyway.

Like many, songwriter/front-person Douglas Richards was really struggling with his position in life towards the end of 2019, “I felt awkward, sick and really out of place”, he explains. “‘Disco Wings’ came out one evening when I was sat alone in my lounge. I was playing my crap little nylon string, called the ‘Flager Meister’, momentarily feeling like I had the energy to stand up to those negative oppressive thoughts.” Douglas spent the next few months with the band, messing with synths and vocoders and finishing the lyrics “but always hopefully holding onto that initial sentiment.”
