Gritty South London outfit PLAY DEAD have released their excellent new EP Mug Cake, featuring CLOUT lauded singles ‘Barbershop’ and ‘Offy’, raucous showcases of the distinctive outfit and their chaotic sound.
The latest release from the EP is it’s opener, the intense ‘Away From Here’. The track serves as an excellent way to get things started, with its atmospheric din and the palpable rising intensity throughout the track, there is a real sense of urgency and palpable anxiety here, and things feel like they can descend into impending carnage at any second. ‘Away From Here’ sets the tone for what is to come, and does a great job of setting the scene for 10 minutes of unfiltered, modern UK punk rock.
