Posh Chocolates demonstrate their irresistible guitar-pop sound on ‘GAUDY’

The Manchester trio build on their early success with what is likely their most accomplished track yet

The Manchester trio build on their early success with what is likely their most accomplished track yet

Posh Chocolates are an outfit that have quickly honed in on a sound that is both recognisable and packed with contemporary indie pop appeal.

Their jangly, effortlessly cool sound serves as a love letter to their native Manchester and the artists that have emerged out of the city, while injecting enough of their own personality to ensure that their sound feels fresh and modern.

Latest single ‘GAUDY’ is the latest in a string of releases that have been emerging over the last year. The track is a showcase of everything that the band do well. The glittering choruses, the inescapable hooks. the eye-rolling satire. The essence of Posh Chocolates is captured within the track, and packaged in its best possible light.

‘GAUDY’ is a slick amalgamation of past and present that encapsulates everything that is must-hear about Posh Chocolates. We’re expecting big things from the trio.

“GAUDY came from a necessity to vent such an irrational qualm I had with the pretentious trends of the current social economy. Working at the time in the “trendy” hub of Manchester, I found myself bemused by the lengths that people would go to to be profoundly unique, but thus when different becomes the norm we find ourself in a post-ironic free-for-all in which everyone is fighting to be crowned most “gaudy” or the most ethically “woke”.” The outfit have said of the track. “Don’t get me wrong, I say “eco-friendly” in jest – I obviously don’t inherently disagree with activism. But when someone’s mentioned how they’re newly vegan for the FIFTH time in one conversation, to try and gain some sort of moral high ground rather than for a viable reason, it gets a bit wearisome.”

Welcome to a sophisticated, post ironic, in joke of a generation that want to be heard. I refuse to endorse the ego of a trend setter. Here’s a voice to oppose all wannabe iniquities voiced.”
